Head of Capital Markets and Credit Risk

As our Head of Capital Markets and Credit Risk, you'll focus on implementing a robust funding framework for advances we extend to our customers as part of our product offering. As our first capital markets and credit risk hire, you’ll have a tremendous opportunity to shape a core aspect of our product, scale our business and instill analytically grounded, data-driven practices across our organization. 


You will help us build our credit risk policy roadmap from the ground up and handle our growing volume of payments and clients. Our candidate has a high level of attention to detail that understands the importance of risk, strong financial controls and safeguarding funds in a high-growth environment. You must be a great teammate that strives for continuous improvement, has an eagerness to learn and feels comfortable working within a larger global team. You’ll report directly to our CEO.

You have the Opportunity to:

  • Build, manage, and own Zerobroker's capital markets strategy that fits with Zerobroker's credit and lending product lines.

  • Responsible for daily operating relationships with our capital markets providers, including our warehouse lines and permanent funding providers, such as answering questions to loan buyers, providing periodic reporting, and discussing new product offerings.

  • Create processes across Zerobroker, our banking partners, our capital markets partners providers run efficiently with minimal errors.

  • Assist in other functions, such as pitching to customers and banking partners, evaluating technology providers, and investor meetings.

  • Create and author our credit risk policy program from the ground up. You will need to be a manager who is also a hands-on executor and writer.

  • Assist Sales and Relationship Management teams in identifying the risk profiles and potential mitigants for their clients.

  • Undertake transactional and ongoing risk exposure monitoring across the entire client book to identify and proactively lead any adverse movement in Zerobroker’s risk exposure.

  • Manage credit risk underwriting for new and existing clients, transactional monitoring, risk policies and procedures and associated management information. 

  • Manage and respond to all payment processing risk related queries and issues.

  • Assess and remediate any internal control gaps relating to payment processing risks (chargeback, credit, fraud, etc.), seeking every opportunity to minimize client friction.

  • You will also continually focus on streamlining the onboarding experience for the benefit of our clients.

  • Approve client credit (chargebacks) risk and monitor ongoing transactional risks, applying appropriate risk mitigants to protect the business from loss. This will include maintaining an overall view of the total risk exposure, with regular reporting to executive management.


We are looking for People who have:

  • 10+ years of experience in capital markets and credit risk with at least 5+ years of experience in fast-growing fintech startups.

  • Knowledge of the capital markets landscape, with a strong network in the funding sources.

  • Experience at a fintech startup having built credit risk roadmaps from the ground-up.

  • Ability to navigate a dynamic and fast-paced environment in an organized manner.

  • Data-driven approach and strong analytical skills.

  • Low ego; willingness to do whatever it takes to win.

  • A bias for action, as well as a strong sense of practicality and efficiency.

  • Able to confidently present to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
